Getting started

  1. Install AI Offline Translator on macOS 14+.
  2. Open the menu bar icon and go to Settings.
  3. Grant Accessibility when prompted (required for hotkeys and in-place replace).
  4. Choose a platform: Online AI, or install an offline engine (Smart / Balanced / Fast).
  5. Configure language pairs and hotkeys.

Ways to translate

Online vs offline

Online translates in the cloud — subscribe and it just works. That subscription also includes Offline engines.

Offline runs on your Mac, so it works without internet and keeps the text on your computer. You can also buy Offline engines once, without Online AI.

Glossaries

Optional bilingual dictionaries improve consistency for offline engines. Download pairs from Settings when available for your languages.

FAQ

Why does macOS ask for Accessibility? It’s needed for advanced features like replacing selected text automatically and showing the translation window. Without it, you can still type or paste text in the Manual Translation Window.

Why does macOS ask for Keychain access? So we can keep your license locked safely on your Mac — encrypted by the system, and harder for anyone else to copy or tamper with.

Can I use ChatGPT / Gemini / DeepL keys? Yes — enable Pro Mode (own AI) in Settings and add your key.
