Preplanning Gantt (PreGantt) · Jira Cloud · Atlassian Forge

Looking for a plain-language guide? The Knowledge Base explains every part of PreGantt step by step — plans, timeline, dependencies, Hourly mode, Jira sync, and more. Start there if you're new. This page is a shorter technical reference.

Overview

Preplanning Gantt lets teams build Gantt-style plans inside Jira before work exists as issues. Plan tasks, dates, dependencies, and baselines collaboratively — then transfer selected items into your Jira project when you are ready.

The App appears as the PreGantt tab:

Getting started

  1. Install Preplanning Gantt from Atlassian Marketplace.
  2. Open a Jira project and select the PreGantt tab, or open the global PreGantt page from Apps.
  3. Create a new plan and add tasks on the timeline or in the row panel.
  4. Set start/end dates, dependencies, and optional calendars.
  5. When ready, use Transfer to Jira to create or link issues.

FAQ

Does the App work on Jira Data Center?

No. Preplanning Gantt is a Forge Cloud app for Jira Cloud only.

Can I use the App without creating Jira issues?

Yes. You can plan entirely in PreGantt and transfer later, or never transfer.

Who can see my plan?

By default, new plans are private — visible to the owner and users/groups/project roles you share with. Older “open” plans may be editable by everyone in scope.
